The 4th National Workshop on Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture (CCAA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on 1–2 October 2026 in Doboj, bringing together representatives of the competent ministries of agriculture of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, national experts and other relevant stakeholders. The workshop focused on advancing the Strategic Guidelines, Action Plan and Policy Mix for strengthening the resilience of agriculture to climate change.
Participants worked on three key areas: sustainable use of natural resources, resilient agricultural production, and strengthened institutional capacities and knowledge. Through expert presentations and participatory group work, they discussed concrete adaptation measures, responsible institutions, implementation timeframes, priority levels and monitoring indicators.
The participatory approach enabled stakeholders to contribute their experience and recommendations directly to the development of the national framework. The results of the discussions will feed into the finalization of the national Strategic Guidelines, Action Plan and Policy Mix, which are expected to provide a practical basis for future climate-smart agricultural policies and measures.
The workshop also reviewed the remaining CCAA activities, including the completion of the second round of training for agricultural advisory and extension services, regional training activities, and dissemination of project results within the relevant ministries. The workshop marked an important milestone in strengthening institutional cooperation and building the resilience of agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the impacts of climate change.
The activity was organized with the support of GIZ and the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG), on behalf of the German Government, within the Regional Climate Partnership between Germany and the Western Balkans.
