The Second Workshop on Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Agricultural Policies was held on September 30, 2025, at the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka. The event brought together 29 participants from various institutions and organizations, including representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska, the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG RRD), members of the expert group, as well as other relevant stakeholders from academia, civil society, and the private sector.
The workshop was formally opened with welcoming remarks by representatives of the Ministry and the SWG. In the opening session, the overall objectives of the workshop were presented, followed by the verification of the stakeholder ranking, which provided the basis for further dialogue and active participation.
The agenda then continued with the verification of the SWOT analysis, where participants worked in groups facilitated by members of the expert team. This exercise allowed for an in-depth review of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the context of agricultural adaptation to climate change, ensuring that all perspectives were taken into account.
Building on this discussion, the focus shifted to the identification of goals and actions. Through interactive group work, participants defined both general and specific objectives, as well as priority actions to support the adaptation of agriculture to the impacts of climate change. The collaborative process ensured that the proposed measures were both practical and strategically aligned with national and regional priorities.
In the final session, the moderators summarized the main conclusions of the workshop and outlined the next steps. The participants agreed on the importance of continuous dialogue, cross-sectoral cooperation, and the active involvement of all relevant stakeholders in the process of integrating climate change adaptation into agricultural policies.
This activity was organized with the support of GIZ, in cooperation with the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South Eastern Europe (SEE), on behalf of the German Government, within the framework of the Regional Climate Partnership between Germany and the Western Balkans.
