COVID-19 Emergency Support Action

The SWG in cooperation with GIZ under the project “Diversification of economic activities in rural areas of Southeast Europe through value chain development” are supporting the agriculture and rural development sector, most specifically focusing on the development of short value chains in rural tourism, traditional products, mountain tourism and beekeeping, and to address new and immediate economic, health and safety issues directly related to COVID-19 impacts.

Through the COVID-19 Emergency Support Action, the Action will provide funding for stakeholders and value chain operators dealing with rural tourism, traditional products, mountain tourism and beekeeping. The aim is to implement COVID-19 emergency support measures in order for stakeholders to sustain normal business operations and to maintain a safe workplace. Support is provided in order to assure that small businesses, entrepreneurs, civil and public entities in rural areas do not suffer immense economic shock as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Program will help stakeholders and value chain operators to:

  • mitigate the financial pressure experienced by businesses and organizations to allow them to continue their operations,
  • provide education measures to strengthen capacities for rural stakeholders in respect to economic development in rural areas; and
  • support projects by businesses, organizations and communities to prepare now for a successful recovery.

SWG support provided under the intervention measure is up to 2,000 EUR without VAT.
