European Rural Manifesto and the Venhorst Declaration


The 3rd European Rural Parliament was hosted by the Village of Venhorst, in North Brabant Province, the Netherlands in October 2017. The European Rural Parliament seeks to express the voice of rural Europe, to articulate the concerns of the rural people living in this area and to promote self-help and action by the rural people in partnership with civil society and governments.

The 3rd European Rural Parliament represented by 250 people from rural communities in 40 European countries launched the proposals for a new European fund for community led local development while sharing experience through the thematic groups discussion and debates which gave recommendations and re-confirm the main outcomes – European Rural Manifesto and Venhorst Declaration.

The main outcomes from the 3rd European Rural Parliament are the “Venhorst Declaration” which focuses on other key current issues in rural Europe and the “European Rural Manifesto” as a statement of the aspirations, commitments and demands of rural people.
