Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia granted the Observer status within the SWG

Meeting of SWG Secretary General Mr. Boban Ilic and Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Mr. Otar Shamugia on the occasion of granting of Observer status of the Ministry within the SWG.

The discussion was focused on the policy issues related to collaborative opportunities and potential involvement of the Ministry within the SWG structures and operations.

“For us, as a nation striving for EU membership, it is especially important and accountable to become an observer in the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in Southeast Europe. Membership in the European Union is a unanimous choice of the Georgian people. We have made significant progress on the road to European integration, but challenges remain, in which the sharing of experience and support of partner countries is crucial. I believe that by being a part of the group, we will be able to share the best practices and experiences gained in the agricultural and environmental protection fields, which will enable us to fulfill our commitments under the Association Agreement in a timely and efficient manner”, said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
