Representatives from cross border regions of the Western Balkan countries participated at the “Euregia 2014 – Fair and Congress for Regional and Local Development in Europe”. The participation on the event was organized by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) within the EU funded project: “Preparation for implementation of the Area Based Development (ABD) Approach in the Western Balkans – 2nd phase”, and host organization Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), commissioned by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Participation on Euregia 2014 provided opportunities for presentation of the cross-border regions of “Sharra”, “Prespa”, “Drina-Tara” and “Drina-Sava”, and the Area Based Development Approach in the Western Balkan countries.
Also, participation on the Euregia 2014 Fair and Congress provided opportunities for establishment contacts with representatives from different regions from EU and discussion about possible future cooperation.
Field visits for the delegation from Western Balkan countries to the Natural Park Dübener Heide were organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Field visit aimed at presentation of best practices for regional development and trans-national cooperation of EU member state, as well as exchange of experiences related development of rural areas.
