Rural Business Development Training held in Ohrid, North Macedonia

Two-day training on “Rural Business Development” was held in Hotel Tino in Ohrid, North Macedonia in a period 2-3 November, 2022. The main goal of the training was for the participants to learn about trends and modern market approach when it comes to the global and digital market, to analyze all the segments of their business development and to learn about useful tools on how to promote and develop their business.

A total of seventeen (17) participants from North Macedonia attending the trainings and they were representatives of MSMEs, guesthouses, small producers and processors, tourism and hospitality associations, providing services in rural tourism.

The participants gained knowledge on trends and modern business approach, sustainability and strategy in the modern market, learned the possibilities of the digitalization, how to form and calculate the price for target group, how to distribute the work activities in rural households, learned about customer relations and branding, how to use social media tools.

During the training the participants had a chance to visit S&S Winery and conclude their discussions and future activities which resulted from the training while tasting unique homemade food and some of the top-graded wines in the region. The participants took a tour around the vineyard and the owners of the winery presented all the winemaking activities and the process of making wine step by step from, harvesting the grapes through preparing the grapes for fermentation till the final product.

S&S Winery is located 4km from Ohrid at Chekoshtina with beautiful surroundings, and a spectacular view of Ohrid lake. This is a family winery with long history in winemaking, and, represents a variety of red wines and white. They have been cultivating wines in traditional way adopting a modern approach, with a goal to produce exquisite wines.

The activity is part of the Project: Promotion of Economic Diversification in Rural Areas of South-Eastern Europe (SEDRA II) in SEE – Value chain capacity building on agriculture and rural tourism to promote employment opportunities financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by SWG RRD in partnership with GIZ.
