The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH have organized an exposure visit in Austria for exchanging experiences and good practices related to the successful implementation of the Community Led Local Development (CLLD) and LEADER Approach in the period 7th – 13th July 2019

The objective of the exposure visit was transferring the European experience regarding the formulation, planning, implementation, organization, financing and monitoring of CLLD/ LEADER approaches and operations of LAGs structure to representatives from the relevant public authorities, civil society and business sector from the SEE countries. Emphasis was especially placed on protection of the environment through circular economy on regional and national level, as well as enhancing the income of the regions through sustainable tourism.

The group of participants coming from all six SEE countries, had the opportunity to visit LEADER projects and learn more about their establishment, the vison and idea behind each project, their motivation and, finally, its benefit for the region. Additionally, the group visited the Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism of Austria and the LAG Regio3 offices where they became familiar with the legal framework concerning CLLD / LEADER approach, as perceived through the prism of both the Ministry and the LAGs.
