The 1st Territorial Workshop as part of the HuMUS Project in North Macedonia took place on May 30th, 2024, in the main conference hall of the Municipality of Resen, North Macedonia. This significant event, organized as part of the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” aims to foster sustainable soil management practices across Europe.
The workshop brought together public and private actors to discuss the challenges and opportunities in soil health management. It featured sessions on the biophysical and socio-economic dimensions of soil challenges, and promote knowledge sharing among the participants. Attendees engaged in dialogues to develop shared understandings and co-create solutions for soil protection and restoration.
Key topics included the best practices in soil management, strengthening partnerships for soil health, and strategies for sustainable agricultural production. The event also highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement and capacity-building activities to support decision-making processes at regional and local levels.
The HuMUS Project encourages all stakeholders, including local authorities, farmers, businesses, and civil society organizations, to participate and contribute to the development of effective soil management strategies.
The objective of the HuMUS project is to place an interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach to facilitate the deployment of the Soil Mission at regional and local levels and facilitate spaces of dialogue on soil health. HuMUS is the new HORIZON Europe project funded by the European Commission within the framework of The EU Mission ‘A Soil Deal for Europe’ (Soil Mission).
