The 18th Annual Working Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture from South Eastern Europe (SEE) is scheduled to take place on September 24th, 2024, in Skopje, North Macedonia.

This event will be hosted under the joint auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of North Macedonia and the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South Eastern Europe.

During the 18th Annual Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture from SEE, the Ministers and the Heads of Delegations under the guidance of SWG will convene in Skopje to discuss the future developments in the agricultural and rural development sectors within the SEE region. They will also conduct a comprehensive review of the regional cooperation processes within this field.

The Ministers and Heads of Delegations will debate and share their political commitment to EU integration and the policy aspects associated with agriculture and rural development, especially regarding the Green Agenda for Wester Balkan, EU CAP alignment and approximation with EU acquis, the importance of the Agriculture Policy Dialogue and the Berlin Process. This topic will be brought up in reference to the “Jahorina Agenda 2024,” which represents the conclusions drawn from this year’s Agricultural Policy Forum held in Jahorina in June 2024.

SWG Delegates and representatives of the Berlin Process Governments discussed the draft Declaration on Food and Agriculture during the Agriculture Sherpas meeting within the 60th SWG Assembly Session held in September 2024 in Potsdam, Germany. This Declaration is set to be adopted by the Ministers and Heads of Delegations responsible for Agriculture and Rural Development from the Western Balkans during the 18th Annual Working Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture.

Declaration on Food and Agriculture is an important step towards the formalization of cooperation between the Western Balkan’s in the context of the Berlin Process, with a special emphasis on achieving the goals of sustainable development in agriculture.
