Around 30 exhibitors, producers of potatoes from Rogatica area and members of the Association “Romanija skorup – kajmak” presented their products at the event Days of the Rogatica potato and the Romanija skorup – kajmak organized by the Agricultural Cluster Sarajevo-Romanija-Podrinje ‘’SRP’’.
The Association “Romanija skorup – kajmak” gathers 24 members and their products has been protected by the geographical origin since 2017 and entered in the WIPO register so they are recognized in 28 countries signatories of the Lisbon Treaty. Cow milk spread (skorup-kajmak) is made according to the traditional recipe, and the specificity of this product is the smoking process in wooden huts, which provides the unique taste.
Potatoes from Rogatica area have been recognized throughout the WB region for its quality. In this micro-area suitable for growing this crop, agricultural producers are producing potatoes for more than two centuries. Potatoes from Rogatica area is also in the process of obtaining the trademark of geographical origin.
This type of promotion is important both for producers who can expand market networks and for consumers who have the opportunity to buy a domestic product directly from the producer and in this way they can find more information on the production process and buy value for the money products.
