Pecka Outdoor Festival organized in the village Pecka near Mrkonjić Grad, Republic of Srpska, B&H in the presence of hundreds of visitors.
Pecka Outdoor is a family type festival which promotes village Pecka and its surrounding. This festival summarizes the numerous possibilities and benefits of being active in nature in a two-day program. It promotes healthy lifestyles and habits through an active stay in nature, with the additional goal of popularizing rural tourism, improving and promoting the local offer and natural heritage of Pecka.
“We decided to live here and share this space with other people. Maps are updated, Natural Monument, Source of the river Sana is protected and managed by the Association “Green Ways”. With new infrastructure and marked paths Sana River area is ideal for enjoyment, stated Boro Marić and added that it is one of the reasons for enjoying and actively spending time in nature for all generations. Five years after the first map, numerous changes are visible in the entire village, especially in the increase of tourist households”.
He pointed out that he is proud of his team and friends of this festival and happy that the festival was recognized and supported this year by important companies/institutions, whose representatives were presented with certificates of appreciation at the opening of the festival, as well as friends of the festival – tourist guides and animators of the workshops.
During the festival visitors enjoyed numerous outdoor activities like mountain biking, sport climbing, hiking, Koran river canyoning, exploring the habitats of plants and mushrooms, tasting local food at the colorful market, sports and educational-creative workshops and good music program.
People to People event is supported by the project: “Promotion of Economic Diversification of Rural Areas in Southeast Europe (SEDRA II) in SEE- Value chain capacity building on agriculture and rural tourism to promote rural employment opportunities” implemented in partnership by Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG RRD) and GIZ.
