The International Festival of Nature and Cultural Heritage “Zestival” is an economic and tourist event organized by the City of Uzice in cooperation with partners from the public, private and civil sectors with the aim of affirming and promoting cultural heritage, nature, tradition, rural areas, as well as the promotion and placement of authentic and traditional products of the Republic of Serbia and the neighboring Western Balkan countries.
During the eight days of the festival, various activities are organized at several locations including exhibitions, concerts, books promotion, cultural and artistic events, as well as selling market.
Organizing majority of festival activities outside of the city center, many significant tourist potentials are promoted: the Old fortress, Hydropower plant “Uder the city” built by Tesla principals, White Church in the village Karan, Neolith settlement “StaPark”, national cultural heritage Jokanovic house (property of the Jokanovic family, one of the richest merchant families of Uzice in the second half of 19th century) and the City Cultural Centre.
City of Uzice, as the cultural center of the Western Serbia in 2024 will become the Cultural Capital of Serbia in 2024 confirming the value of its long tradition, cultural commitment of the city on the Djetinja River.
People to People event is supported by the project: “Promotion of Economic Diversification of Rural Areas in Southeast Europe (SEDRA II) in SEE- Value chain capacity building on agriculture and rural tourism to promote rural employment opportunities” implemented in partnership by Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG RRD) and GIZ.
